My name is Dennis Fivecoate and I am the owner and primary technician of Home Technology Services. After spending 20 years in the Air Force, traveling around all over and moving every 4 years, I decided to settle down in Rapid City. I became interested in computers in the Air Force so when I retired, I took some classes at Western Dakota and some others at Black Hills State, ended up with a couple of pretty pieces of sheep skin and decided to start my own business. I have been watching the computer repair businesses with great interest. While there are quite a few repair places out there for businesses, very few of them deal with the common everyday person and their computer problems at an affordable price. So I decided to give it a try. We have a couple of extra bedrooms since the kids have gone to college and are out on their own, so I decided to cut my overhead costs by working out of my house. I also decided to charge a flat fee for each service instead of an hourly charge. That way the customer will know the cost of the repair from the beginning and no hidden expenses. Computers are big, awkward, and heavy. They are also very confusing to the novice as to where everything plugs in. So I decided I would make house calls like the doctor and TV repairman did when I was growing up. This is much more convenient for the customer and many repairs can be done without the computer leaving the person's house. |
